Do We Need Tickets to Enter Burnside Farms?

Yes. Burnside Farms requires admission tickets for all guests entering the sunflower fields. Session fees do not include farm admission, and clients are responsible for purchasing their own tickets directly through Burnside Farms.

I recommend purchasing tickets as soon as they become available, especially for popular evening time slots during peak bloom. Once your photography session is booked, I'll provide guidance on selecting the appropriate admission time so everything coordinates smoothly.

What happens if it rains?

If severe weather causes the farm to close, Burnside Farms will refund your ticket cost. In that case, we can work together to schedule another session while the sunflowers are still in bloom.

If the rain is light and the farm remains open, sessions can still take place. Summer sunsets often create beautiful light and dramatic clouds that photograph wonderfully.

If conditions appear unsafe for equipment or uncomfortable for families, Burnside Farms does offer a rescheduling option when done within their designated time frame.

I always monitor the weather closely and will communicate with you ahead of time if conditions look questionable.

What should we wear?

Sunflowers pair beautifully with warm, earthy tones and soft neutrals. Creams, tans, light denim, sage green, dusty blue, rust, mustard, and soft florals all photograph well against the golden yellow blooms. Avoid large logos and overly busy patterns so the focus stays on your family's connection and the beautiful surroundings.

When I take my own kids to Burnside Farms, sometimes I coordinate outfits for a more polished look, and other times I embrace a more relaxed, playful style. Both can work beautifully. The best outfits are the ones that feel comfortable and true to your family.

Keep in mind that sunflower sessions take place on a working farm. There is some walking through the fields, uneven ground, and the possibility of a little dust or dirt. Comfortable shoes are always a good idea, especially for little ones who want to explore.

Can we bring grandparents or extended family?

These sessions are designed for immediate families, couples, maternity, or individual portraits. If you’re hoping for a larger extended family session, feel free to reach out about scheduling a full storytelling session.

Can we bring our pet to the tulip fields?

Yes! Burnside Farms allows leashed dogs during the sunflower season, making these sessions a great option for families who want to include their four-legged family members.

As a dog lover myself, I always enjoy photographing the special bond between families and their pets. Whether your dog is part of every family adventure or you're looking to include them in just a few portraits, they are welcome to join us in the sunflower fields.

If you plan to bring your dog, I recommend bringing a leash, water, treats, and, if possible, an extra set of hands to help when they aren't in photos. This allows us to capture a variety of images while keeping the session relaxed and enjoyable for everyone.

How many images will we receive?

You’ll receive a gallery of 25 professionally edited images that include both natural candid moments and lightly guided portraits. Your gallery will be delivered through an online gallery where you can download and order prints.

When will we get our photos?

Your online gallery will be delivered within two weeks of your session.
