Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if it rains?
If severe weather causes the farm to close, Burnside Farms will refund your ticket cost. In that case, we can work together to schedule another session while the tulips are still in bloom.
If the rain is light and the farm remains open, sessions can still take place. Soft spring skies often create beautiful light and dramatic clouds that photograph wonderfully.
If conditions appear unsafe for equipment or uncomfortable for families, Burnside Farms does offer a rescheduling option when done within their designated time frame.
Please review the session contract for full details regarding rescheduling and cancellation policies.
I always monitor the weather closely and will communicate with you ahead of time if conditions look questionable.
What should we wear?
Soft spring colors work beautifully with the tulips think light pastels, creams, soft blues, blush tones, and neutrals. Avoid busy patterns or large logos so the focus stays on your family and the flowers.
When I take my own kids to the tulip fields each year, sometimes I coordinate their outfits with dresses and soft colors, and other times I let them choose something more playful and farm-inspired. Both approaches photograph beautifully.
Most importantly, be comfortable. There is quite a bit of walking around the fields, so consider wearing comfortable shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dusty.
Can we bring grandparents or extended family?
These sessions are designed for immediate families, couples, maternity, or individual portraits. If you’re hoping for a larger extended family session, feel free to reach out about scheduling a full storytelling session.
Can we bring our pet to the tulip fields?
Unfortunatly pets are not allowed at the tulip fields. Tulips are toxic to dogs so they have a no pet policy. I am super dog friendly and all for including them into your family photos. If this is something that is super important to you feel free to reach out and we can schedule a spring family session at a dog friend location that works for your family. Check out my family page for more information.
How many images will we receive?
You’ll receive a gallery of 25 professionally edited images that include both natural candid moments and lightly guided portraits. Your gallery will be delivered through an online gallery where you can download and order prints.
When will we get our photos?
Your online gallery will be delivered within two weeks of your session.
